Anna Marie Hoover, 99, Altoona, died Saturday evening at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
She was born in Coupon, daughter of the late William Joseph and Ellen (Delozier) Lumadue. She married George Alton Hoover on Aug. 10, 1934, in Cumberland, Md. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2003.
Surviving are three sisters: Sarah Quinlan, Elizabeth "Bess" Greinader and Marjorie Hoffman, all of Altoona; also, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers: Charles "Chick" Lumadue, William "Mick" Lumadue, Arthur "Fat" Lumadue, Regis "Peck" Lumadue, Robert "Bob" Lumadue, Peter "Pete" Lumadue and Clair "Biddie" McGuire; and three sisters: Edith Ball, Helen Douglass and Jean McGill.
Mrs. Hoover was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.
Anna enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, crocheting and making homemade hooked rugs. She helped raise many family members after her mother's passing. She then took over as the matriarch of the family.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 1 Cathedral Square, Altoona.
Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
