BERTHA C. WATCHEY

Bertha C. Watchey, 94, Altoona, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon at Amber Terrace at the Altoona Center for Nursing, surrounded by her family.

She was born on Alexandria, daughter of the late James Thomas and Edith Loretta (Lukehart) Krape. On Feb. 12, 1949, she married Robert E. Watchey in Winchester, Va., and he preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1997.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda L. Hoover and husband, David, of Altoona; a son, John A. of Hollidaysburg; five grandchildren: Christine McCully, John Watchey Jr., Jennifer Resick, Rebecca Crim and Jessica Hoover; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Bertha was an avid reader who enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata, and the Blind Association.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service, Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, Pastor Elizabeth Hess officiating. Committal will be at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to Association of the Blind, 300 Fifth Ave., Altoona, PA 16602.
