Betty J. Hoover, 94, Altoona, passed away peacefully at her daughter's residence Saturday evening.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Oren and Elizabeth (Dale) Bayle. Her husband, Allen M. Hoover, whom she married on March 18, 1944, in Altoona, preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1993.
Surviving are two daughters: Cheryl E. Yohn and husband, Ralph Jr., and Christine D. Dykes, all of Altoona; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was the last of her immediate family. She was also preceded in death by her son, Allen M. Jr., on Sept. 14, 2006.
Betty and her husband Allen were both veterans. She served during WWII in the Marine Corps from Feb. 15, 1945, to Feb. 28, 1946, as a Private First Class. She retired as a prep cook in the dietary department at Van Zandt VA Medical Center.
Betty enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and other crafts. She loved to play the piano.
Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. by Pastor Kathy Colebank and military honors will be provided by Blair County Veterans Honor Guard. A private inurnment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
