Betty F. O'Connor

Mrs. Betty F. O’Connor, 89, formerly of 226 Maple Avenue, died Thursday evening at Garvey Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Tyrone, PA, daughter of the late George and Esther (Everhart) Beals. She married Irvin J. “Bud” O’Connor on October 29, 1941 in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1978. Surviving are four daughters, Nancy Smith and husband Charles of Alexandria; Mary Louise Gibbons and husband Stephen, Sheri Danella, and Betsy Miller and husband Tom all of Altoona. Betty is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey O’Connor; a grandson, Benton Miller; 5 sisters, and 2 brothers. Betty proudly graduated with honors from Altoona High School in 1939. She was a former member of the Fourth Lutheran Church, Altoona, and was a homemaker who enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, reading, and going out for a piece of pie. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren as well. Friends may be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Monday at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home, Inc., 1204 - 17th Street, Altoona. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, 1209 17th Street, Altoona, with Pastor Tyler Pepper officiating. Committal will be at Blair Memorial Park, Altoona.
