Beverly J. Barger, 84, Harrisburg, died Sunday at Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, Harrisburg.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late John and Ethel (Fraley) Minster. She married James A. Barger on April 16, 1949, in Philadelphia, and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters: Joyce A. Rudy and husband, William, of Altoona and Janet A., with whom she resided; two sons: James A. II and wife, Kathy, of Altoona and Fred A. and wife, Jan, of Chesapeake, Va.; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert A., on Dec. 1, 1964; three brothers; and two sisters.
Beverly was a 1944 graduate of Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, and she retired from Boyer Candy Co. She enjoyed ceramics, puzzles, stitchery and also letter writing.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday September 13, 2011 and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday by Pastor Denise Arpino. Committal will be at Blair Memorial Park.
