Clara O. Yon

Clara O. Yon July 28, 1919 - December 24, 2009 Clara O. Yon age 90, of Altoona, died Thursday Morning at her residence. Born in McKee, she was the son of the late John and the Mary (Miller) Helsel. She was twice married 1st to Irvin Daugherty and then married Hervey K. Yon on October 12, 1946 in Hollidaysburg. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1978. Survived by one son: Robert Allen Daugherty and his wife Patty of Bellwood; 5 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. Three sisters: Dorothy Helsel and Myrtle Adams both of McKee, Betty Swope of Bakers Summit, and three brothers: Robert A. of Lakemont, Jess A. of Brooks Mills, and Ray of Ohio. Predeceased by hers son Irvin J., 13 brothers and sisters and 11 half brothers and sisters. She worked for 3 years at the Pennsylvania Railroad, then Vincent Howitz Shoe Co. and then as a Housekeeper for 37 1/2 years at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Rectory. Mrs. Yon was of Methodist Faith. Mrs. Yon enjoyed bingo and loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great grandchildren. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing or services. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family at Blair Memorial Cemetery.
