David Michael Olinyk, 64, of Altoona, passed away peacefully Friday at his residence. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Stanley and Mary (Albright) Olinyk.
Surviving are a sister, Tina (John) Chestney of Altoona; nephews: Matthew (Brittni) Chestney and their son, Micah; and Brian (Teressa) Chestney and their children: Dawson, Charlotte and Hazel; and his lifesharing friends: Ann Woods, Ben Church, Teri Martell and Anna May Boyles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eileen; and a niece, Adeline Chestney.
David was employed by Skills, Pizza Hut and Giant Eagle where he was a greeter and packer for the last 30 years.
He was a graduate of Altoona Area High School, Special Ed Class of 1978.
David was a member of ARC and active in Special Olympics. He was also a past president of “Speaking for Ourselves."
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. David loved going to Fort Apache VFW with his father in his younger days and enjoyed going to summer camp at Camp Grenada. He especially loved watching the Altoona Curve and was an avid Steeler fan.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon Monday June 7, 2021, at the Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th Street, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at noon with Pastor Eli Hess. Private committal will be at Grandview Cemetery, Tyrone.
