Donald A. "Don" Shuma, 74, Altoona RD 6, died Sunday evening at Golden LivingCenter-Hillview, Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late George R. and Susan (Bills) Shuma. He married H. Lorraine Nagle May 12, 1956, at St. Leo The Great Catholic Church, Altoona.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; son, Michael and his children: Amber (Joshua) Pike and their son Conner, and Ashley, Trevor and Corey; son, Randy (Cindy) and their children, Travis and Erin, all of Altoona; son, Daniel (Teresa) and their children, Justin and Mathew, of Chesapeake, Va.; and two brothers: Richard G. Shuma in Illinois and Eugene M. Shuma of Altoona.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Debra L., May 19, 2007; his stepmother, Mollie; and a sister, Patricia Detwiler.
Mr. Shuma was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, where he also served as a lector.
He was a 4th-degree member of Knights of Columbus, Council 551; and a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Swiss Rifle Club and Park Hills Country Club.
Mr. Shuma was a graduate of Altoona High School, Class of 1953.
He was a retired sales manager for US Foodservice (Sky Brothers), Altoona.
Don enjoyed yard work, golfing and bowling.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held Wednesday evening.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 12th Avenue and 20th Street, Altoona, by Father James D. Zatalava. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
