EFFIE MAE HOOVER

Effie Mae Hoover, 80, of Altoona, passed away peacefully Wednesday, afternoon at her residence, surrounded by her family.

she was born in Altoona,  the daughter of the late James W. and Marie W. (Hamp) Shields.   

Survived by her husband: Howard Hoover married on February 17, 1984 at Winchester, Va., two daughters: Amy Shields of Altoona and Tamara "Tammy" Crum and husband Robert of Lilly, Three grandchildren Kim Servello; Dana Servello; and Ryan Shields.

One brother: John S. and wife Evelyn.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, James, Martha M. Harrier, Ruth Smith, and Elizabeth Lafferty .

She was a Nurse Aide, employed by Hollidaysburg Veterans Home and prior at the Hollidaysburg State Home..A 1954 graduate of Altoona High School.

Effie enjoyed puzzles and crafts, and spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and taking care of her cats.

Effie was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

 At the request of the deceased services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Private Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
