ELIZABETH A. 'Betty' ROBERTS

Elizabeth A. “Betty” Roberts, 69, Garvey Manor, formerly of Graystone Court Villas, Altoona, passed away Sunday morning at the Manor.

 She was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Salvatore and Regina Julia (Bennetti) Maiorana. She married Joseph J. Roberts on Oct. 30, 1971. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2011.

Surviving are her in-laws, Tony and Carol Roberts, Dominick and Marian Roberts, Jack and Marilyn Roberts, Jim and Theresa Roberts and Rose Roberts; 12 nieces and nephews; numerous cousins including the Bennetti and Maiorana families; and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Charles Pisch.

Betty graduated from Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School in 1965. She received a degree in education and religious studies from St. Francis College. She was a self-employed beautician and formerly owned the Reflection of Beauty Salon in Juniata.

She enjoyed going out to eat with her friends. Betty loved animals and working with children. She was in the foster grandparent program for Blair Senior Services and last worked as a foster grandmother at St. Patrick School, Newry. Betty was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, where she taught religious education classes.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona. A Vigil for the deceased will be around 7;30 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday Feb. 10, 2016, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, the Rev. Terrence Smith, T.O.R., celebrant. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
