Elizabeth M. Stengel, 77, Altoona, was called home by her Lord and Savior Thursday evening at UPMC Altoona hospital.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Alvin and Olive (Gromley) Shoemaker. She married Harold Stengel on Nov. 12, 1994, in Altoona.
Surviving are her husband; five children: Gaylene Campbell, Allan Campbell, Sherry Gabbard, Paula McElhannon and Allan Campbell, all in Arkansas; three step-children: Dean Stengel and Bob Stengel and Janet Oswald; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Howard Campbell.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and a member of Grace Brethren Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and decorating, and she was called on often by her church to lend her special touch. She loved to entertain and was very skilled with catering. Her first love and hobby, however, was reading her Bible. She was a nurse in the US Army.
Friends will be received from 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral service today, July 13, 2013, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, Pastor Rod Lingenfelter officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to Grace Brethren Church, 109 W. 14th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
