Elizabeth C. Waksmonski

Elizabeth C. Waksmonski, 103, Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, died Thursday evening at the manor. She was born in Barnesboro, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Petrick) Squashic. She married Michael S. Waksmonski Sept. 12, 1927, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Gallitzin. He preceded her in death March 13, 1969. Surviving are two daughters: Catherine E. Matulnes and husband, James Edward, of Bedford and Anna D. Tiernan and husband, Deacon John A., of Hollidaysburg; a son, John S. of Altoona; grandsons: Jeffrey Matulnes, Michael Matulnes and Michael Holland; granddaughters: Beth Ann Holland, Maureen Keefer and Karen Tiernan; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Marie Holland; five sisters: Margaret Robbins, Mary Luther, Anna Williamson, infant Mary and Mary Squashic; and five brothers: Michael, Steven, Andrew, infant John and John Squashic. Mrs. Waksmonski was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, formerly SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, a former member of SS. Peter and Paul Rosary Society, Polish National Alliance and St. Hedwig's Society. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework, baking, cooking, singing and dancing. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at St. Joseph's Chapel at Garvey Manor. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at St. Joseph's Chapel at Garvey Manor, 128 Logan Blvd., Hollidaysburg, by Father Regis Myers. Committal will be held at SS.
