JOAN M. FREDERICK

Joan M. Frederick, 72, Altoona, died Monday morning at her residence. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Carl and Rose (Rice) Ruckinger. She married Andrew F. Frederick on July 16, 1958, in Altoona. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Christina M. (James) Kephart; a son, Andrew J. (Melinda); seven grandchildren: Andrew, Michael, Timothy, Mathew, Ashley, Amanda Rose and Brett; a sister, Patricia A. Smith; and three brothers: Carl J., Donald and Michael Ruckinger. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathleen A. John-Frederick. Joan was a 1957 graduate of Altoona High School. She was a caregiver for Blair Senior Services and Home Nursing Agency. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Joan enjoyed gardening, her flowers and roller skating and also enjoyed her two dogs, Sophie and Angel. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Broad Avenue and 27th Street, Altoona, by Father David R. Rizzo. Committal will be at Blair Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, kindly make contributions to Blair Senior Services or Home Nursing Agency.
