John E. Wiedman, 88, Altoona, died Friday at his residence.
He was born in Philadelphia, son of the late John Sr. and Rose (Bramble) Wiedman. He married Dorothy T. Conlin on June 15, 1946, at St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Philadelphia. She preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 2004.
Surviving are four daughters: Kathy Johnston, Rosemary Pelligrino, Doris (Lawrence) Britton and Joanne (Harry) Palmer; four sons: William (Diane), John E. Jr. (Rosemary), Thomas (Brenda) and Robert (Judy); 30 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Doris Dicebba; and a brother, Bill.
Mr. Wiedman served during World War II in the Marine Corps as a corporal. He started out as a locksmith working for his father, worked as a truck driver for Esso and then was a machinist for Westinghouse.
John enjoyed dancing and singing. He loved living life with his family and friends.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th Street, Altoona. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Altoona, officiated by Father David R. Rizzo.
Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
