Judith L. Long, 73, Altoona, died Thursday morning at her residence after a brief illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Frank and Madeline (Baer) Black. She married James E. Long on June 18, 1957, in Altoona, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2005, after 47 years of marriage.
Surviving are two daughters: Carole Epple and husband, Greg, and their children, Zachary and Alexandra, and Kelli Hileman and husband, Scott, and their children, Tyler and Aubrey; two sons: Jim and his children, Jason, Jenna and Jeremy (Tonya), and Jeremy’s son, Aiden, and Mike and wife, Mandy, and their children, Brett (Sara) and Michael (Mandi), and Michael’s son, Ethan; and two step-grandchildren: Lauren and Paige. All are of Altoona.
She is also survived by two sisters: Ruth Cessna and Vera Whetstine (Dave), both of Altoona; a brother, Ronald (Frieda) of Rock Hills, S.C.; two sisters-in-law: Barbara Ballos (Gust) and Patricia Rehm; as well as many special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy McLellan.
Judy was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, and she retired as a cook for Keith Junior High School. She enjoyed being with her family and especially vacations at the beach and traveling.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2013, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 12th Avenue and 14th Street, Altoona, by Pastor Thomas Ekstrand. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
