Louis Soldner, 87, of Altoona died Friday morning at The Lutheran Home of Hollidaysburg.
He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Anton and Anna (Ehgartner) Soldner.
He is survived by two sisters: Anna Fliegerbauer and Mary Lenhart, both of Altoona; a brother, John of Hollidaysburg; and several nieces and nephews. He also is survived by a special friend and caregiver for 46 years, Dolores J. Watson of Altoona; and his godchildren: Heidi Soldner, William Watson and William Watson III.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Joseph, Anthony and Carl; and a sister, Elsie Thalhauser.
Mr. Soldner was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. He retired as a truck driver from Lafferty Trucking. He was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society. He enjoyed hunting and watching football.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing.
Family and friends are invited to meet for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2009, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 1400 Fifth Ave., Altoona, by Monsignor Timothy P. Stein. Committal at Calvary Cemetery.
