Mary P. Bacza, 88, Antis Township, died peacefully Saturday at her residence.
She was born in Hickory Hill, daughter of the late Wasyl and Anastasia (Niado) Posiowaych. She married John S. Bacza on Sept. 24, 1949, at St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, Altoona, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2008.
Surviving are a daughter, Suzie Carreras of Salisbury, Md.; twin sons: Tom and wife, Carole, of Bethlehem and Jerry and wife, Sheila, of Fairmont, W.Va.; nine grandchildren: Brian Pfister and wife, Lisa, Mark Pfister, Scott Bacza and wife, Nicole, Brian Bacza, Zac Schraff, Jade Schraff, Nick Carreras, Michael Carreras and John Carreras; a brother, Alec of Juniata; a sister-in-law, Cathy Bacza; her godson, Steve Bacza; and good neighbors, Randy and Pat Dutrow.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Nick; and two sisters: Ann DeJohn and Catherine.
Mary was a 1942 graduate of Altoona High School. She was a homemaker and had also been employed at Sylvania and James Industries. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and a former member of SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Mary enjoyed reading, word find puzzles, gardening, knitting, crocheting, sketching and drawing.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 8:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 12th Avenue and 20th Street, Altoona, by Father James D. Zatalava. Committal will be at SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Altoona.
