Mary Ann Knouse, 97, Altoona, died Sunday morning at Valley View Home.
She was born in Lilly, daughter of the late Albert and Zofia (Tracz) Wresh. She married Paul J. Knouse on Nov. 26, 1934, in Hollidaysburg, and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1988.
Surviving are two daughters: Kate Ake and husband, Bob, of Sun City Center, Fla., and Mary Ann Wertz and husband, Dick, of Flanders, N.J.; three sons: Pat and wife, Janet, and Tom and wife, Bonnie, all of Altoona, and Ben of Grove City; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, William M. of Pennsauken, N.J.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah K. âSallyâ Cohen; three sisters: Elizabeth F. Knouse, Julia Schmidt and Sophie Gabrysh; and two brothers: Joseph and Anthony.
Mary Ann enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, spending time and being with her family and her two cats.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at the Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sixth Avenue and 20th Street, Altoona. Committal will be at SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery.
