Ned F. Bayer, 89, Altoona, passed away Monday morning at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Loysburg, son of the late Issac and Edna Mae (Fink) Bayer. On Feb. 2, 1950, he married Joanne L. Dale in Cumberland, Md., and she preceded him in death on May 29, 2013.
Surviving are a son, Allan Lee Bayer and wife, Peggy; two daughters: Susan L. Siry and husband, Skip, and Jennifer L. Wills and husband, Eric; five grandchildren: Jeremy L. Steiner and girlfriend, Gretchen, Ashley E. Creamer and husband, Matthew, Summer Siry, Nicholas Bayer, Hannah Wills and Emma Wills; and a great-grandson, Colton Creamer.
Ned was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was employed as a tractor trailer driver for Ward Trucking.
He was a life-member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood, where he was a bartender for many years. He was also a life-member of Bavarian Aid Society, and he enjoyed watching Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Pastor Ben Hoover officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children-Erie, care of Jaffa Shrine, P.O. Box 1984, Altoona, PA 16603.
