Robert Anthony Airhart, 68, of Altoona, peacefully passed away Thursday at his residence. Bob was born in Altoona, son of the late Raymond A. and Marian (Winrick) Airhart. Surviving are two sisters, E. Rae Kapfhammer and Michelle C. Brennan and her husband, Michael; his dog, Buddy; a nephew, Joseph A. (Samatha) Kapfhammer; two nieces, Nicole (Brennan) Logar and husband, Michael, and Courtney L. Brennan; and a great-nephew, Francis “Franky” Kapfhammer. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Frank Kapfhammer. Bob was a 1974 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School, and retired from Norfolk Southern as a trackman. He was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus since 1960. Bob was involved in the Blair County Photography Club. He was known throughout the area for volunteering to photograph activities of non-profit organizations and he worked many years to help preserve the East Broad Top Railroad. He enjoyed air shows, model trains and to helping preserve railroad history. Bob also liked hiking and fishing. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, 411 Wopsononock Ave., Altoona, with Father Brian Norris, officiating. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are by Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., Altoona. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602; or Juniata VFW Fort Apache, 126 N. 16th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
