Robert J. "Bobby" Williams, 72, Altoona, died Wednesday evening at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
Born in Frankstown, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Mabel F. (Gates) Williams. He married Rosalie M. Myers Jan. 6, 1955, in Altoona.
Surviving are his wife, Rosalie M.; two daughters: Sheryl A. DeHaas and husband, Max, and Carol Ruggery and husband, Robert "Butch"; a son: John A. and wife, Julie; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Anne Wingert and Ella Jean Claybaugh; and four brothers: Raymond, Lee, Harold and Bill. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert J. Jr., and a brother, Jim.
Mr. Williams was a truck driver for Stroehman Bakery. He served during the Korean War in the Marine Corps as a corporal. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, doing a lot for Toys for Tots.
He was a graduate of Altoona High School. He was a member of Riggles Gap Church and enjoyed helping at First Baptist Church with Reapers Food Bank. He was a member of the Jaffa Shrine and the Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Williams enjoyed stock car racing in the 1950s and woodworking. Robert enjoyed being with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home by Pastor Tyler Pepper.
