Robert Stanton Mentzer, 75, of Altoona went home to be with the Lord Monday morning at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late John and Evelyn (Troutman) Mentzer. He married Linda Florence Fryer on July 19, 1962, in Maryland. She preceded him in death on June 10, 1975.
Surviving are a daughter, Robin Kay Sanchez and husband, Joe, of Duncansville; a grandson, Brooks Hatch; four sisters: Nancy Gibson of Philadelphia and Jean Pielmeier, Carol Mentzer and Rebecca Malady, all of Altoona; and two brothers: Donald of Philadelphia and Howard of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and George; and a sister, Doris Foor.
Mr. Mentzer was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in the Korean War.
He was a retired maintenance man for Warnaco Sportswear.
Robert enjoyed working on cars and model cars and watching Steelers football.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. memorial service Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, officiated by Pastor Hud Crossman.
Inurnment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
