Rose Marie 'Rosie Slywczuk ' Kauffman

Rose Marie "Rosie Slywczuk" Kauffman, 53, Altoona RD 6, passed away Tuesday evening at her residence after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Michael Sr. and Anna K. (Melynk) Slywczuk. She married Jerry C. Kauffman Jan. 4, 1980. She is survived by her husband, Jerry C.; two daughters: Jennifer Anne Kauffman of Arlington, Va., and Heather Marie Kauffman of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; dogs: Skippy and granddog Jack; and a special group of friends. Mrs. Kauffman was a former member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church and a registered nurse for Altoona Regional Health System, Bon Secours Hospital Campus, in the operating room for 28 years. Rosie enjoyed painting faces at the Geisinger Hospital Children's Miracle Network and was a Brownie and Junior Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. Rosie loved life. Mrs. Kauffman was a graduate of Altoona Area High School, Class of 1973; a graduate of Penn State and a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 29, 2009, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, Pa.
