SHIRLEY M. SPROUSE

Shirley M. Sprouse, 91, of Altoona, died Friday morning at Altoona Center for Nursing Care. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Roy C. and Marie H. (Webb) Miller. Her husband, Richard Sprouse, whom she married on Aug. 23, 1969, at Altoona, preceded her in death on June 8, 1977. 

Surviving are: two daughters: Amy (Patrick) Horell and Judith C. Sprouse; five grandchildren: John, Marie, Sean, James and Madeline, one stepson, Craig Sprouse; two step-grandchildren, Gina and Mark; and a beloved cousin, Marie Balzano.

She was preceded in death by a stepson, Richard Sprouse; a sister and her husband, Helen and Don Porter; and a dear friend, Sara Cacciotti DeArmitt.

She was an executive secretary, employed by Boyer Candy Company, retiring in June 1971.

Shirley was a 1947 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and a graduate of  the Altoona School of Commerce.

Shirley was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altoona.

Shirley was a fan of and watched the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2020, at the Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th Street, Altoona. A private funeral service for the immediate family will be held by Father Brian Saylor after visitation. Due to recent restrictions, we will be rotating guests in and out during the visitation times and masks are required.

Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to St. Rose Of Lima Catholic Church, 5514 Roselawn Ave., Altoona, PA 16602 or to Blair Senior Services, 1320 12th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601
