Stanley J. "Beamer" Wilinski Jr., 63, Altoona, died Tuesday afternoon at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after an extended illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of Ruth (Kinney) Wilinski and the late Stanley Wilinski Sr. He married Beverly M. Robertson on June 20, 1970, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Altoona.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Bethany Hainsey and husband, Rick, of Altoona; a son, Stanley J. III of Altoona; three grandchildren: Tori Barr, Kayle Barr and Allison Wiliniski; his mother of Altoona; and a sister, Jane Maucieri and husband, Nick, of Altoona.
Beamer was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School and retired from Norfolk Southern. He also did concrete and masonry construction and was a member of the Laborers' International Union of North America Local 910.
Beamer was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time at the St. Stanislaus Kostka Brotherhood, where he was a lifetime member and current president of the club. In his earlier years, he played and coached softball and baseball. Most recently he enjoyed spending time playing cards at home with his family and friends.
Beamer also had a strong Catholic faith. Those who knew and loved him know what a big heart he had.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 3:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 12th Avenue and 20th Street, Altoona, by Father James D. Zatalava and Father Aron M. Maghsoudi. Committal will be private at Calvary Cemetery.
