Victoria "Vicki" Niewola, 90, of Altoona died peacefully Friday evening with her family by her side at Williamsburg Sentara Hospital, Williamsburg, Va.
She was born in Jadowniki, Poland, a daughter of the late Blaze and Ann (Galek) Servin. She married Joseph S. Niewola Sept. 12, 1946, in Germany. He preceded her in death Sept. 30, 1993.
Surviving are a son, Richard and wife, Janice, of Williamsburg, Va.; three grandchildren: Joseph, Ross and Sarah; and a sister, Josephine Lacka in Poland.
She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph S. Niewola Jr. on April 4, 1964; and six brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Niewola was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church Rosary Society, Ave Maria Society, St. Hedwig Society, Polish National Alliance and the Birthday Girls.
She was a homemaker/ seamstress.
Vicki enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 12th Avenue and 20th Street, Altoona, by Father James D. Zatalava.
Committal will be at SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery, Altoona.
