Walter "Sonny" William Clapper Sr.

WALTER “SONNY” WILLIAM CLAPPER, SR., age 85, of Altoona, drew his last earthly breath and first heavenly breath, on Friday afternoon. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy M. (Aiken) Clapper; his five children Walter, Jr.; Susan Sprinkle; Joseph (Kathy); Judy (Victor) Ridenour; and Larry Crea; his 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; his siblings Sandra Morrison and  John (Karen) Clapper; his sisters in law Dolores Lafferty, Helen Aiken, Shirley Aiken, Kathy Clapper, Cathy Clapper, Kim Clapper and Betty Clapper; and his brothers in law Harry (Ann) Aiken and William Baker. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Edna (Cashman); his siblings Russell, Jr. (Joanne); Annabelle (Charles) Fisher; Robert, Janet Baker; George; and David; and his brothers in law Joseph (Marie) Dale; Nelson Lafferty; William Kenawell; and Daniel Morrison. 

 Sonny was a man of deep faith, always eager to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with an encyclopedic knowledge of the Bible.  He truly lived his Christian faith, always willing to help anyone.  He loved God and loved his family - a faithful son, a loving husband, a good father and an adoring grandfather.

Friends will be received from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. on Monday, September 24, 2018  and Tuesday from 9:30 till 10;30 at Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc. 1204 17th Street, Altoona.

 A funeral service will be conducted by the Very Reverend Kris D. Stubna on Tuesday, September 25 at 10:30 am at the funeral home, followed by interment at the Blair Memorial, Bellwood.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Blair Senior Services, Inc. c/o In home services. 1320 12th Avenue Altoona, PA 16601.
